CICCC partners with Ronald McDonald House BC & Yukon

CICCC created a partnership with the Ronald McDonald House Charities British Columbia and Yukon

We are delighted to announce a new partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities, an institution whose values and social impact resonate with us strongly.

Many children require medical support, some must travel far from home to access quality medical services. The associated costs for parents to accompany their children during this time can be substantial. RMHC is dedicated to assisting these families.

About Ronald McDonald House Charities

RMHC provides a place for families to stay together, steps away from the children’s hospital.

Canada has only 16 specialty children’s hospitals, so many families must travel far from home. It is not easy for these families, and both children and family expend a lot of energy reaching the hospital.

Parents can stay by their child’s side at the hospital and experience a home-like environment. RMHC provides an atmosphere where they can focus on the child’s treatment without worrying about hotel expenses or transportation costs.

Visiting RMHC BC and Yukon

On our visit, Stephanie Mosher (Vice President of Philanthropy) and Maggie Wefel (Philanthropy Officer of Corporate Giving) introduced us to the facility. We were given a tour of the amazing facilities including a huge shared kitchen, private rooms for the families, and extra spaces/activities such as a gym, art therapy room, music room, etc. The idea has been creating a similar space or routine that the families were used to having before moving there.

This is a shared kitchen, equipped with ample facilities so guest can prepare and enjoy meals just like they would do at home. It plays a significant role as a place for families to relax.

On certain days, there is music instruction within the room, and it also serves as a space for children and families to unwind. According to Maggie, it has gained popularity among the siblings of children, who create songs for their loved ones while they’re in the hospital.

Our partnership has just started

We contributed through a donation, as a starting point of our collaborations together. In the interim, we are currently engaged in ongoing discussions to define the specifics of Cornerstone’s collaboration with RMH BC and Yukon, outlining how we will contribute. We look forward to the continued development of this partnership in the future.

Support RMHC and make a meaningful contribution to our community. We invite your valued participation.
