The job market is competitive, fast-paced and always growing. So, you must stand out from the crowd. But how?
1. Attitude is everything
It probably seems obvious, but a positive and open-minded approach will really help. Employers are looking for someone that they can trust, who is not afraid to jump in to some hard work and a person who is open to learning.
Companies know the difference between someone who ‘talks the talk’ and someone who can ‘walk the walk’
Be adaptable – this will become your superpower.
2. Create a strong resume and cover letter
It may not be common in your country to send a cover letter, but in Canada, it is necessary.
Create a supporting statement that describes in detail all of your skills and experience. Then make it specific to the job you want. Some people have 4 or 5 resumes and cover letters for different types of jobs!

5. Follow up, follow up, follow up
Research the name of a manager, or the person who is responsible for recruitment. Contact them directly.
It can help to send an e-mail to check they received your application. It will help the employer remember your name!
