Re-opening Procedures and Safety Guidelines
Cornerstone is ready to welcome students back to campus
The Government of Canada has announced that the Canadian border will re-open to International Students that are attending a Designated Learning Institution. The institution must have a strict COVID-19 Safety Plan in place.
Cornerstone has been preparing for this exciting update and is prepared! With strict safety measures in place and adapted protocols to continue delivering classes.
What is Cornerstone College’s Safety Plan?
Firstly and most importantly, students and staff must self-monitor for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 and must not come to the campus if they feel sick.
Cornerstone is the only college in Vancouver to have a unique online class booking
To maintain social-distancing, there is a maximum capacity of 6 students attending class in-person. To monitor this fairly, Cornerstone has a specially-designed online platform for booking a space in the classroom for up to 2 days per week.
All classes are delivered virtually, which means students continue to stay connected and receive instruction through online teaching.
Social distancing and face masks and sanitization are mandatory on campus
All staff, students and visitors must assess themselves for any COVID-19 related symptoms daily before entering the campus. These are posted on signs at the entrance to both CICCC campuses and include, but are not limited to:
- Fever
- Chills
- Headache
- New muscle aches
- Cough
- Sneezing
- Congested/runny nose
- Shortness of breath
- Sore throat
- Headache
- Loss of sense of smell
- Fatigue
- Loss of appetite
Cornerstone follows the WorkSafeBC government guidelines. All students are required to wear a mask when on campus and maintain a social distance of 2 meters.
Appointments with student services are made virtually or by phone, unless by special request for an in-person meeting. Non-essential visitors are limited and required to comply with the guidelines outlined.
Sanitization products are provided in all classrooms and offices, including anti-bacterial hand sanitizer, anti-bacterial spray, and anti-bacterial wipes. Students and instructors must sanitize their workspace before and after using it.
Communal spaces (bathroom, reception, elevator, etc.) are sanitized regularly during the day and deep cleaned before the campus opens each day.
The building is monitored by our in-house Designated COVID-19 Officer every hour, to ensure cleanliness, social-distancing, and that masks are being worn.
Cornerstone partners with Vanmates to provide trusted and safe quarantine accommodation
There is a mandatory 14-day quarantine in place when international students arrive in Canada.
Cornerstone and Vanmates support new arrival students with private accommodation, for those who need to quarantine for the mandatory 14 days. It includes meals, a safe airport pick-up, and a 24/7 emergency phone line.
Your accommodation will also have a wi-fi connection, so you can start your online classes whilst staying safe.
Cornerstone takes the recommendations and government guidelines seriously. The Health and safety of students, instructors, and staff is a priority.
