Summer 2018 | What’s happening in Vancouver?
The rain has stopped and the sun has come out.
We are excited for a season of sunshine and adventures here in Vancouver. It’s time to step outside and enjoy all of the amazing things that this city has to offer.
Here are a few of our favourite (free or cheap) events, to keep you busy during July and August 2018.
Outdoor Cinema at Stanley Park - FREE
Every Tuesday between 3rd July – 21st August | Movies start after sunset (8-9pm)
Second Beach, Stanley Park
Arrive early to find a good spot. Bring your own blanket (Canada can get cold, EH!) or chairs and of course, movie snacks!

Khatsahlano Street Party 2018 - FREE
Saturday 7th July | 11am – 9pm
West 4th Avenue, between Burrard Street and McDonald Street.
This is one of the city’s favourite street parties!
It happens in the Kitsilano neighborhood, which is easy to get to by bus (number 2, number 4 or number 7), or by cycling.
You will find live music, beer gardens, obstacle races, market stalls, food trucks, free stuff and a lot of smiling faces!
Be prepared for a crowded street party atmosphere!
Commercial Drive Car Free Day - FREE
Sunday 8th July | 12pm – 7pm
Venables Street – N. Grandview, Commercial Drive (Skytrain: Commercial-Broadway, Expo Line)
Commercial Drive Car Free Day is a day when the roads are closed to cars.
Fifteen blocks along ‘The Drive’ become an ocean of pedestrians who want to enjoy the community spirit.
You will find food trucks, market stalls, music and entertainment, competitions and prizes, local artists community activities and much more. It is great for all ages.
The idea of ‘car free days’ originated in 2005 in the Commercial Drive Community.
Since then, they have become an annual event in different neighborhoods in Vancouver. They are very popular.
Honda Celebration of Lights 2018 - FREE
Dates are given below | 10pm
Imagine the most impressive fireworks show you have ever seen. Now imagine it with beautiful views of the ocean, beaches and mountains… Well that is what you can expect with the Honda Celebration of Lights.
It is an international competition between three different countries. They will show an incredible 25 minute display of fireworks, held over 3 days.
There will be live music playing while the displays are happening

Wednesday 1st August Sweden
Saturday 4th August South Korea
Be sure to arrive early to find a spot to view the fireworks. It doesn’t matter if it rains… the show will go on!
Vancouver PRIDE Parade 2018 - FREE
Sunday 5th August | 12pm
West End neighborhood
The annual PRIDE parade will take place in the West End. There will also be a Pride festival at the beach.
Vancouver Pride Society describes this colourful event as ‘A celebration. A protest. A party’.

Vancouver’s Largest Water Fight 2018 - FREE
Saturday 11th August | 1pm
Lumberman’s Arch, Stanley Park
Bring your own water balloons and water guns and join hundreds of others in Vancouver’s largest water fight!

Have you ever wanted to party in the mountains?
Well this is your chance. It is a way to celebrate being outdoors with dancing, nature and the free-spirit vibe of Vancouver’s summer.

Mat Collective Outdoor Yoga - FREE

Full Moon Morning Beach Party - FREE

Start your day with a full moon party on the beach! There is no alcohol, but there will be a lot of music, dancing, kombucha and soaking up the sun!
